What to do if you made a mistake on your SG Arrival Card

How to correct an error on the SG Arrival Card, when to re-submit, and how to handle issues discovered at the border.

5 min read

Mistakes on the SG Arrival Card happen often: a mistyped passport number, the wrong arrival date, a flight number that no longer matches the booking. The good news is that the form is forgiving. There is no fee, no penalty for re-submitting and no complicated procedure to follow.

There is no edit function

The SG Arrival Card cannot be edited after submission. The official approach is simpler: submit a new form with the correct information. The most recent submission supersedes the previous one in ICA's system. There is no need to cancel or delete the earlier submission.

This means that, in practice, the correction process is just "submit again". The only requirement is that the submission still falls within the 72-hour window before arrival.

When to re-submit

Re-submit the SG Arrival Card whenever the information you originally provided is no longer accurate. Typical situations include:

  • Mistyped passport number, name or date of birth.
  • Wrong arrival date because of a flight change.
  • New flight number after a re-booking.
  • Different accommodation in Singapore than originally planned.
  • A new transit country added to the itinerary.
  • A new symptom or change in the health declaration.

When in doubt, re-submit. The form takes only a few minutes and the latest version is the one ICA uses.

If the 72-hour window has already started

If the trip is less than 72 hours away, re-submission is straightforward. Open the official ICA submission page, fill in the corrected information and submit. The acknowledgement email confirms that the new version is on file.

If the trip is more than 72 hours away — for example, you discovered a mistake a week before travel — you cannot re-submit immediately. The form will reject the date. In that case, set a reminder for two days before the trip and re-submit then.

If you discover the mistake at the airport

If a mistake comes to light at check-in or at the boarding gate, you can usually still submit a new SG Arrival Card from your phone. Most airport areas have Wi-Fi or sufficient mobile coverage. Have your passport and flight confirmation ready and submit again with the correct information.

Airlines are increasingly aware of the SG Arrival Card and may remind passengers at check-in, but they cannot submit it on the traveller's behalf.

If the mistake is found at the immigration counter

If the discrepancy is only spotted when the officer scans the passport in Singapore, the usual outcome is one of the following:

  • The officer asks the traveller to re-submit on the spot using a mobile phone.
  • The officer corrects a minor discrepancy directly in the system and waves the traveller through.
  • The traveller is directed to a secondary counter to clarify the information.

None of these outcomes involves a fine for an honest mistake. Singapore's immigration officers see this regularly. The most important thing is to remain calm, be transparent and answer questions accurately.

If the mistake involves the health declaration

Mistakes in the health declaration deserve particular attention because false declarations are treated more seriously than typing errors. If you realise you forgot to include a transit country or misjudged a symptom, re-submit the SG Arrival Card with the correct information as soon as possible.

If you only realise the omission at the border, mention it to the immigration or health officer rather than trying to hide it. For an overview of the declaration, see The SG Arrival Card and the electronic health declaration.

If you submitted on the wrong website

If you submitted the form through a third-party website rather than the official ICA platform, the SGAC itself is generally still valid — the third-party simply forwarded your details. The issue is the fee you paid, not the validity of the submission. To avoid a similar situation next time, bookmark the official ICA website.

If you receive no acknowledgement email

If the acknowledgement email does not arrive, check the spam folder. If it is genuinely missing, the most likely cause is a typo in the email address. Re-submit the form with the correct email. The earlier submission remains on file, so no harm is done.

When in doubt, the safest action is to re-submit. The SG Arrival Card is free and the latest submission is the one ICA considers valid.

Summary

There is no formal correction mechanism for the SG Arrival Card, but there does not need to be: a fresh submission is the official correction. Travellers who notice a mistake before travel should re-submit within the 72-hour window. Travellers who only realise on arrival should explain the situation honestly to the officer. In almost all cases, the issue is resolved on the spot.
